Vocal Improvisation Open Studio performance from the students of my advanced year-long course Wild Voice Solid Roots - Class of 2023-4.
Singers from around the UK & Europe have been gathering in Devon all year for an extended study of vocal improvisation with Briony Greenhill.
They have been cultivating exquisiteness. Honing their musicianship like patient carpenters staying with it until it’s just so. They have been daring to open to free improvisation like dervishes.
For the first time, this co-hort of students on the 2023-4 Wild Voice Solid Roots course, dare to share their improvisations with the public.
It is said that public speaking is the most scary / brave thing. So try public singing. Then try public singing without a song - that is what they will be doing. This will be their first performance ahead of their full year-end performance on 4th May.
A pre-show, a first dip into opening our doors to the public.
You are invited into our studio to begin to see and hear what we’ve been up to. If you’d like to listen, and honour their courage, and experience what these folks can make out of thin air with collaborative vocal improvisation, you’re welcome!
Just respect, please, and kindness and honouring the deep courage these folks are bringing to the moment. They might be in sweat pants. There may or may not be make up.
We will charge you no money. Just turn up. A chair and herbal tea will be offered.

There’s no onsite parking at Ashprington Village Hall, and it’s a narrow-laned village, so come early to find a spot for your car, ride share, and so on.
